Community Policing Campaigns

Campaigns help agencies find solutions to the underlying conditions contributing to public safety problems.

Proactive Approach to Building a Safer Community

REP's community policing campaign tools allow agencies to be proactive in predicting and circumventing threats to public safety. Developing campaigns and tracking interactions with your community will help your agency gain valuable insights on how to reduce crime and increase community confidence and trust.

Campaigns can be single events, recurring events, or short- or long-term campaigns. While each campaign is unique with specific objectives, the process and data metrics are similar.

Transparency, accountability and legitimacy

Community engagement is fundamental to fostering safer streets and stronger communities. Every day, law enforcement agencies are actively involved in their communities, but many do not prepare for - or document - these interactions and are disconnected from their communities. These are missed opportunities to encourage positive, proactive relationships with community members in a non-stressful, non-enforcement and non-confrontational manner. Planned, thoughtful engagement campaigns are key to strengthen community support, improve effectiveness and enhance legitimacy of law enforcement.

Most pressing community-oriented policing questions for law enforcement leadership

Not sure if REP is a tool that can help your agency? Consider the following questions.

  1. How are you modeling community policing in your organization?

  2. Do those you lead value the importance of community policing?

  3. Does the organization know the "why" behind engaging with the community?

  4. Have you developed strategies on how best to engage with the community?

  5. What can you do to ensure that everyone throughout the organization values community-oriented policing?

  6. Have you provided the necessary tools to enact community policing in your organization/department?

  7. Are you providing the necessary training to truly capture the tenets of community policing?

  8. Do you emphasize that everyone must be mindful of community policing, regardless of their assignment?
